I spoke to an HCSS user today who was trying to respond to a problem created by the fact that her payroll department is now working from home during the COVID-19 crisis.
The company’s problem was that a handful of their employees fill out paper timecards to report time, and get paid. Their crews are all electronic (using HeavyJob), but their flaggers (who work in pairs) and plant operators fill out paper timecards, and hand them to a payroll employee who manually enters those time cards into HeavyJob.
With the payroll people at home – how can we get the paper to them? Furthermore, with uncertainty of virus viability on surfaces like paper, do we really want to get the paper to them?
What did she do?
- She quickly set up iPads for each group of flaggers and each plant,
- Taught them HeavyJob, and
- Gave them each access to the HCSS Academy for help and support.
Now (and in the future), everything is electronic and the company’s payroll employees can work from home with no issues.
