When Dispatcher is not configured for each user in mind, it will try to accommodate every possibility. The way to give your Dispatcher a speed boost is to customize the user’s experience to fit their needs.

Launch Your Day with Your Own Default Magnet Board

Each HCSS Dispatcher login is personalized to the user account. The first magnet board that loads when you open the application is personal and should fit your daily tasks. The magnet board is simply a view of the data in the system. Where the equipment is located is synced up whether you are viewing all active jobs on a shared board, or just those jobs you care about on a board you created. To get the fastest time launching your profile, choose a default magnet board with jobs that you work on every day.

If you work in a team, it may be helpful to see the same jobs on the same shared board. With Dispatcher you can quickly change which board you are viewing. If you are changing location cells out for new locations as you work throughout the day, you should consider making your own board for that purpose, and toggle to the shared boards when necessary.

To set your Default Magnet Board, go to Preferences > User Preferences > Magnet Board, and select your board for Default Board.

Clean up your jobs list

If you notice that your jobs list includes jobs that are no longer current projects, and should not have resources on them, hide the job location. Go to the Location list, select the jobs you want to hide, and right-click to select the menu item to “Hide Job Location” in bulk. This does not remove or delete the job or its history. You can easily scroll to the bottom of the list and show the hidden jobs to be able to toggle them back.

Dispatcher will not allow you to hide a Job Location with active resources assigned to it. This is by design so you do not accidentally hide a piece of equipment that should be available to use. Move those resources to a yard if they should not be on that completed job. Cleaning up this list will provide less clutter, and will allow the program to move quicker.

Hide “More Details”

If you have a lot of locations on your shared board, so many that you are only able to see the names of the locations, we recommend that you hide the “More Details.” Your monitor resolution will limit you to what you can see, but in the background, the program will still load the information. Hiding this will speed up your magnet board. When you zoom into the location with the magnifying glass located on the top left of each cell, that location has its own preferences for “More Detail.” This is where you would want to show your needs, schedules, and inventory items. Using this method will have a positive effect on the speed of your system.
